Inspiration
Today I’m feeling challenged to look at love a little differently.
To be completely honest, I often look at love by focusing on what it will offer me. But if my only view of love is based on what I can get from other people, it’ll fail me every single time.
You see, I’ve finally learned that other people were never meant to be my God. No husband, children, or other relationship can ever right all my wrongs, and soothe those deep insecurities. Only God can do this.
So, I can choose to focus my attention and my heart on Jesus every day. And stop demanding that the people around me do things they were never meant to do.
Today I’m choosing to remember that love isn’t what I have the opportunity to get from this world. Love is what I have the opportunity to give.
Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my saviour, and my hope is in you all day long.
~Psalm 25:4-5
We might think we know what God expects of us. We can serve Him the way we think He wants us to, but we'll only discover His plans when we ask Him. He'll reveal His ways in the pages of Scripture. He'll teach us His paths through the Biblical teaching of godly teachers. And, He'll guide us in His truth through the challenges of spiritually mature people in our life. We can learn a lot about His plans by asking and listening.
The assurance of Jesus is that because God is with us, we do not have to give in to, sink beneath, or become defeated by troubles. We can face them... deal with them, and in the end overcome them! What a consolation this should bring to our hearts. Jesus taught His followers that all challenges are passing in nature. Sickness and trouble are for a season and for a reason.... Jesus' very life was for a season and a reason. Even His death and burial in a tomb were only for a reason and a season!
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (John 10:10 KJV)
Be Blessed!
