One of the ways God speaks to us through His Word (The Scriptures, The Bible). We need to remember that the God of the universe desires relationship with us and that speaking and hearing are necessary for not just communication, but they significantly deepen and strengthen our relationship with Him. Often times, we want see a flashing light with a dove descending from heaven with booming thunder as God writes his plans across the sky, so we'll know what He is trying to tell us. But God is not going to speak in that way. Scriptures are the most familiar way He communicates with us. They are His Word, and His Voice. The Bible isn’t just another book; it’s the revealed Word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16,17 says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” The Greek word for “all” means all. God inspired every word in our Bible. God’s Word is inspired and it’s profitable. Profitable means, “advantageous, useful, and extremely valuable.” When you want to know what God has to say, the first thing to do is read your Bible. How can you live a Christian life if you don't read your Bible? It is impossible to live a Christian life without knowing God's word and learning from it. Don't look for deep spiritual revelation without it. God’s Word gives us instruction and correction so we can be complete (sufficient, completely qualified, mature) and equipped (competent, proficient, adept and capable) to do what God has called us to do (every good work). The primary way we are going to hear from God is through His Word! Make sure we are reading the Word. There should be no excuse for not regularly reading God’s Word and hearing His voice. There are so many ways we can read the Word. Let me share just a few: Read it prayerfully. As the Holy Spirit to meet your heart’s need as you read (Psalm 119:18). Read it thoughtfully. Think about the meaning and implications of what you are reading. Read it repeatedly. It may prove great benefit to read the same Scriptures every day for an extended period of time. This is how the Word will take root in your heart. Read it regularly. It’s good to have a particular time each day set aside to read the Bible. Make it a habit—it will change your life. Read it expectantly. Ask God for His direction and how you can apply what you are reading to your life. Expect God to work through and in you as you read. We can also begin to memorize His Word. Job 22:22 says, “Receive, please, instruction from His mouth, and lay up His words in your heart.” When we have memorized a portion of the Word of God, we are able to gain insights into the meaning at times when a Bible may not be available. We can also meditate on His Word. Joshua 1:8 says, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Meditating on God’s Word comes with a guarantee! We need to take full advantage of it. The best way to hear God speak is to spend regular time reading, studying, and meditating on His Word. God speaks through the Bible in clear, understandable language. The first step in knowing God’s will for your life is to carefully obey every revelation of His, that you find in the Bible. So go ahead, dig into God's word-it's his communication to us-to find out what He has to say about the problems you may be facing or the questions your asking. Don't say God is silent if your Bible is closed! Want God to speak to you through the Holy Spirit, who lives inside you? Want to Hear His voice from His Word! Open your Bible and read it. God will speak! May you be blessed! ✞ ~T
